Pope Francis seeks Protestant forgiveness for past persecution
(christiantoday.com) Pope Francis asked Protestants and other Christian Churches for forgiveness for past persecution by Catholics as the Vatican announced on Monday he would visit Sweden later in the year to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
Speaking at an annual vespers service in St Paul's Basilica in Rome attended by representatives of other Churches, he asked "forgiveness for the un-gospel like behaviour by Catholics towards Christians of other Churches". He also asked Catholics to forgive those who had persecuted them.
The Vatican announced that on October 31 Francis would go to the southern Swedish city of Lund, where the Lutheran World Federation was founded in 1947, for a joint service with Lutherans to launch Reformation commemorations that will continue throughout the world next year.
Martin Luther, a German, is credited with starting the Protestant Reformation in 1517 with writing 95 theses – said to have been nailed to a church door in Wittenberg – criticising the CatholicChurch for selling forgiveness from sins for money.

'Which Parent Don't I Need?' Tween Asks Minn. House Committee.
(vineoflife.net) When 11-year-old Grace Evans sat to testify before the Minnesota House Civil Law Committee, it’s unlikely that anyone expected her to question the panel. Even more unlikely was their inability to answer. While their silence will likely be touted as refusal rather than inability, it’s nearly inconceivable to imagine a legislator telling an 11-year-old that one of her parents is unnecessary.
That was precisely Evans’ point. God made two parents of different sexes necessary for procreation for a reason: Both sexes’ God-given strengths are necessary in raising healthy children and creating a strong family.
“Since every child needs a mom and a dad to be born, I don’t think we can change that children need a mom and a dad,” Evans told committee members. “I believe G-d made it that way. I know some disagree, but I want to ask you this question: Which parent do I not need, my mom or my dad?
Evans said her mom “is my role model on how to be a girl and I love her very much. My dad is also very important to me because he protects me and helps me get the confidence to be a girl who is growing up to be a woman. He takes care of me in a way my mom cannot.”
After hearing testimonies from parties both supporting and opposing same-sex marriage, the House Civil Law Committee passed a bill on March 12 to legalize gay marriage. The bill passed on a 10-7 party-line vote, with all Democrats in favor and all Republicans opposed. The Senate Judiciary Committee also passed the bill the same day.
According to Sam Rohrer, president of Pennsylvania Pastors Network, God’s command in Genesis 1 requires man to “be fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth and fill it, and have dominion … over every living thing that moves on the earth.” God also created Adam and Eve, and made both sexes necessary for purposeful procreation. Eve was created to be a helper to Adam and together they were to fulfill God’s commands—including the raising of children.
“Like it or not, God made both sexes necessary components for procreation. Both have unique attributes and abilities that, together, make a complete unit in which to parent, with children learning specific skills and attributes from each parent,” says Rohrer.

Iran: Christians Tried For Action 'Against National Security.'
(wnd) - Iran is now putting five Christians arrested in October on trial for “action against national security” in what some say is the Islamic republic’s all-out effort to stop the spread of Christianity.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide reported that Church of Iran members Mohammad Roghangir, Surush Saraie, Eskandar Rezaie, Shahin Lahooti and Massoud Rezaie will stand trial before the Revolutionary Court for disturbing public order, evangelizing, action against national security and Internet activity against the system.

India: Christians Face Threat From Hindus?
(wnd.com) - DELHI, India – Indian Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde says his nation faces an increasing terrorism threat from self-proclaimed “right-wing” Hindu groups, and that’s bad news for Christians here.
In a report on India television network NDTV Shinde said ultra-nationalist Hindu groups have formed camps to train operatives to carry out attacks.
“Groups like RSS are a threat to India,” he said.
That would be Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which states on its website: “Sangh is not a mere reaction to one or another social or political aberration. It represents a corpus of thought and action firmly rooted in genuine nationalism.”
The group states its movement is a response to colonialism and any anti-nationalist movement in India, including religious movements.

Jesus was a 'Judean', not a Jew.
During His lifetime, no persons were described as "Jews" anywhere. That fact is supported by theology, history and science. When Jesus was in Judea, it was not the "homeland" of the ancestors of those who today style themselves "Jews". Their ancestors never set a foot in Judea. They existed at that time in Asia, their "homeland", and were known as Khazars. In none of the manuscripts of the original Old or New Testament was Jesus described or referred to as a "Jew". The term originated in the late eighteenth century as an abbreviation of the term Judean and refers to a resident of Judea without regard to race or religion, just as the term "Texan" signifies a person living in Texas.
In spite of the powerful propaganda effort of the so-called "Jews", they have been unable to prove in recorded history that there is one record, prior to that period, of a race religion or nationality, referred to as "Jew". The religious sect in Judea, in the time of Jesus, to which self-styled "Jews" today refer to as "Jews", were known as "Pharisees". "Judaism" today and "Pharisaism" in the time of Jesus are the same.
Jesus abhorred and denounced "Pharisaism"; hence the words, "Woe unto you Scribes and Pharisees, Hypocrites, Ye Serpents, Ye Generation of Vipers".

What Is The Cause Of All The Anti-Semitism In The World?
Why does the world hate the Jews? Why is anti-Semitism so rampant in so many different countries? What is so bad about the Jews? History has shown that at various time over the last 1,700 years the Jews have been expelled from over 80 different countries. Historians and experts have concluded there are at least six different reasons:
• Racial Theory – the Jews are hated because they are an inferior race.
• Economic Theory – the Jews are hated because they possess too much wealth and power.
• Outsiders Theory – the Jews are hated because they are different from everyone else.
• Scapegoat Theory – the Jews are hated because they are the cause for all the world’s problems.
• Deicide Theory – the Jews are hated because they killed our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
• Chosen People Theory – the Jews are hated because they arrogantly declare they are the “chosen ones of G-d.”
Though these six reasons have been determined to be the major causes of hatred of the Jews throughout the world and history, is there really any substance to them?
• With respect to the racial theory, the truth is that the Jews are not a race that they pretend to be. Anyone in the world of any colour, creed or race can become a Jew.
• The economic theory citing that the Jews are wealthy doesn’t hold much weight. History has shown that during the 17th through the 20th centuries, especially in Poland and Russia, the Jews were desperately poor and had very little, if any, influence in business or political systems.
• As for the outsiders’ theory, during the 18th century, the Jews desperately tried to assimilate with the rest of Europe. As outsiders or foreigners, they had hoped that the anti-Semitism would disappear. However, they were hated even more by those who claimed the Jews would infect their race with inferior genes. This was especially true in Germany prior to World War II.
• As to the scapegoat theory, the fact of the matter is that regardless of what group is hated, they will be considered a scapegoat for all the world’s evils and ills. The point is that the Jews have always been hated, which makes them a very convenient target.
• As to deicide, the Bible makes it clear that the Romans were the ones who actually killed Jesus, though the Pharacies (Jews) acted as accomplices. It wasn’t until a few hundred years later that the Jews were cited as the murderers of Christ. One wonders why the Romans are not the ones hated. Jesus Himself forgave the Jews (Luke 23:34). Even the Vatican (Holy See) absolved the Jews of His death in 1963. Nevertheless, neither statement has diminished anti-Semitism.
• As for their claim to being the “chosen people of God,” the Jews in Germany rejected their “chosen-ness” status during the later part of the 19th century in order to be assimilated into the German culture. Nevertheless, they suffered the "Holocaust" (Persecution/Genocide). Today, some Christians and Muslims claim to be the “chosen people” of G-d, yet for the most part, the world tolerates them and still hates the Jews go figure.
So, this brings us to the real reason by the world hates the Jews. The Apostle Paul tells us: “For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is G-d over all, forever praised!” (Romans 9:3-5). The truth is that the world hates the Jews because the world hates G-d. The Jews were G-d’s firstborn, His chosen people (Deuteronomy 14:2). Through the Jewish patriarchs, the prophets, and the temple, G-d used the Jews to bring forth His Word, the Law, and morality to a world of sin. He sent forth His only begotten son, Jesus the Christ, in a body to redeem the world of sin. Satan, the prince of the earth (John 14:30; Ephesians 2:2) has permeated the minds of man with his hated of the Jews, G-d’s chosen people, because it is through this royal bloodline that His Son, Jesus Christ came and will return again.
Satan tried through the Babylonians, the Persians, the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Hittites, and the Nazis in an attempt to wipe out the Jews. But he’s failed time and time again. G-d is not finished with Israel. Romans 11:26 tells us that someday all Israel will be saved, and this cannot come to pass if Israel no longer exists. Therefore, G-d will preserve the Jews for the future, just as He has preserved their remnant throughout history, until His final plan comes to pass. Nothing can thwart G-d’s plan for Israel and the Jewish people.

Arizona Pastor Jailed... For Hosting Home Bible Study.
Not Only Does This Violate Individual Liberty It Also Violates The The U.S Constitution:

The preacher asked for prayers as he left his wife and six kids to report to Maricopa County Jail.
"I have spent time with my family this morning praying, crying and saying our goodbye. My heart is broken, but glory to God," Salman wrote on his Facebook page this morning. "Our God wil take care of us and my family. Please pray for us! Until God opens the prison's door, I will be with you all in prayer and spirit."
Salman was found guilty of code violations for hosting Bible studies on his 4.6 acre property, which he has been doing for the past 7 years. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail along with three years probation and ordered to pay a $12,180 fine.

Michael Salman, the pastor from Phoenix who was fined
and sentenced to jail for holding Bible studies in his home, started his
60-day jail sentence at 10 a.m. July 9.

The Birthday Of Christ REVEALED!

There is much evidence to prove that October 5th is the anniversary of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
On this date in the year 4 B.C, the Babe Jesus was born, although, ironically enough, Christendom does not celebrate the event until December 25th, whilst the true date is allowed to pass by without so much as a sign from the leaders of organized religion.
The belief unfortunately persists that the birth occurred on December 25th between the years 7 B.C. to 3 B.C. Although those holding these beliefs appear to agree on the day and the month. there is a certain amount of disagreement regarding the actual year.
Let us examine some of these statements wherein December 25th is presumed to be the correct date.
The Encyclopaedia Britannica (11th edition) volume six and page 293, states:
“The earliest identification of December 25th with the birthday of Christ is in a passage otherwise unkown and probably spurious, of Theophius of Antioch (A.D. 171-183) preserved in Latin by the Madgeburg Centuriators to the effect that the Gauls contended that as they celebrated the birth of the Lord on December 25th, whatever day of the week it might be, so they ought to celebrate the Pascha on March 25th, when the Resurrection befell."
“Certain Latins as early as A. D. 354 may have transferred the human birth-date (of our Lord) to December 25th, which was then a Mithraic Feast, and is referred to by certain chronographers as Natalis Invicti Solis, or the birthday of the unconquered Sun.”
Although we have abundant evidence that Christianity was introduced into Britain by the Apostles themselves within the fifth year after the Crucifixion, the so-called Christian Calendar giving the Nativity of our Lord as falling at the Winter Solstice, December 25th, was generally adopted by the Western Church about the third century, although the Eastern Church did not do so until near the end of the fourth century, when it was received from Rome with the intimation that the census role in the Roman archives contained the date December 25th as the correct date.
St. Luke (2:2-7) records that Christ was born when Quirinus, the Governor of Syria, commenced to enforce the Decree, of Caesar Augustus that all the (then known) world should be taxed, and reports that Joseph accompanied Mary to Bethlehem to be so taxed, and that whilst there was delivered of her child.
History reveals that the Romans were averse to disturbing Jewish Feasts and Customs, and this particular decree would operate during the civil year which commences in Tisri, the equivalent of our September or October. This period, falling as it did between the harvest and the ploughing season, proved the most convenient time for the making of a register of census.
The Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was held on 15th Tisri, and this would explain why all places were filled so that Joseph and Mary had recourse to the stables of an inn wherein the Babe was born.
Quirinus was Governor of Syria from 4 B.C. to I B.C., and the Register was commenced during the first year of office. It was in this year that the Feast of Trumpets was held on the seventh day of the seventh sacred month, a Saturday or Sabbath day, and therefore the probable day on which the Babe was born.
The Gospels state that the tidings were given to the shepherds who were attending their flocks by night, but here again we have evidence that it was not customary to keep the flocks out in the open during the night after the end of October, certainly not during the winter nights.

Ste. Luke (2:21-39) further records that after the Circumcision and days of purification were ended, Mary went to the Temple at Jerusalem to present the Babe to the Lord in accordance with Jewish custom.
It was about this time that Herod gave orders for the destruction of all boys under the age of two years, and St. Matthew (2.12-15) records that theAngel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, warning him to take the Babe and mother into Egypt, as Herod was seeking to destroy Him. He further records that Jesus was taken a journey of, roughly, 200 miles into Egypt, where He remained until after the death of Herod.
It is well to note here that records at our disposal show how impracticable, such a journey would be if undertaken after mid-November, unless, of course, one travelled via the sea route, but of this we know Joseph and Mary did not avail themselves. At the time of this journey the Babe was about six weeks old, and this exactly fits in with all the other known facts.

Now Herod was proclaimed king by the Romans at the 184th Olympiad, which was a period of four years, at the end of which were held the games that commenced the next period. The first Olympiad was during the period of 776-772 B. C, and was reckoned as from Midsummer to Midsummer. The end of the 184th Olympiad would therefore be Midsummer 40 B.C. According to the celebrated historian Josephus, Herod actually reigned after the death of Antigonus in the Autumn of 37 B.C, and he frequently states that over three years elapsed between the Roman Proclamation and the death of Antigonus.
Josephus counted his year from Nisan to Nisan, the equivalent of our March, and he would therefore have counted the portion of the first year of Herod’s reign before Nisan as being one whole year, and as he states that Herod reigned 34 years after the death of Antigonus, his reign terminated before the Passover of Nisan 3 B.C.
Certain writers have endeavoured to prove that Herod died on a date different from the actual date in order to prove correct their theory that the Holy Babe was born on December 25th.
The records made by Josephus, however, are very complete and authentic. He states that Herod burnt the Priest Matthias and on the same night there was an eclipse of the moon. There is no record whatever to show that such an eclipse of the moon, visible from Jerusalem during the beginning of the year 3 B.C. ever took place, but a record does exist of such an eclipse occurring during the night of March 12th to 13th in the year 4 B.C.

From this it is obvious that the death of Herod must have occurred at the beginning of the year 3 B.C. as the eclipse of 4 B.C. occurred within one month of the Passover of that year, and it has already been shown that the period of time between Herod’s death and the Passover was about ten weeks, so that the eclipse, death, burial, riots and Passover could not possibly have taken place within the period of the same year.
The Jewish Megillah Taanith states that the death occurred on Sebat 1st or January 18, 3 B.C, and with this date the records of Josephus agree.

What then, is this celebration connected with?
Professor Waddell in his “The Phoenician Origin of Britons, Scots and Anglo-Saxons” produces evidence, that as far back as 1500 B.C., certain inhabitants of Britain were Sun worshippers similar to the ancient Egyptians of 2000 B.C., and that one of their festivals was Natalis Invicti Solis, the birthday of the unconquerable Sun, and such a festival was held on December 25th, which date originally coincided with the Winter Solstice.
The “Christian” Church did not include any festival in December, certainly not the Christmas festival, until the end of the third century and it is presumed that this festival was probably adopted by the Roman Church at that time when many pagans were being converted to their faith, and no doubt it was considered advisable to hold such a festival in order to retain them in the Roman Church.
As we are now approaching the close of the “Latter Days” so often referred to in the Bible, and in addition have had days set aside for National prayer to God, seeking God’s aid to deliver us from the trials and tribulations that now beset us, is it not a little incongruous that we still hold on to our pagan feast days which obviously are opposed to God, inasmuch as, through the celebrations conducted in many Churches, they lead us to break the first and greatest commandment? We cannot expect God to deliver us from our enemies and still continue with our idolatrous rituals. That surely is sheer hypocrisy which the church seems all too eager to accept, inasmuch as they have consented to both in the past; and it would appear to be high time that the churches reconstituted their Calendar.
It is gratifying to know that Scotland has managed to resist such pagan influence. Let us hope that in the not-too-far future the British Commonwealth of Nations and the United States of America will be equally sensible.

Boko Haram Decalres "War" On Christians In Nigeria

Nigeria Is Literally On The Verge Of Civil War (& Collapse) As Boko Haram Increases Attacks On Christians In Nigeria. Multiculturalism Really Doesn't Work.
- Militant Islamist group Boko Haram has declared “war” on Christians in Nigeria, saying that they are planning coordinated attacks to “eradicate Christians from certain parts of the country”.
A spokesman for the group, which has stepped up its violent campaign against Christians in the North since Christmas, said on Sunday (4 March): We will create so much effort to end the Christian presence in our push to have a proper Islamic state that the Christians won’t be able to stay
Boko Haram’s actions over recent months indicate that this is no idle threat.
Following a series of attacks on churches and other targets in five states over Christmas that left more than 40 people dead, the group on New Year’s Day issued a three-day deadline for Christians to leave the North. Unrelenting attacks have ensued, including the bombing of a number of churches as well as attacks on individual Christians.
Most recently, on 26 February, a suicide bomber drove a car into the grounds of the Church of Christ headquarters in Jos. The vehicle exploded three metres from the church building; two women and an 18-month-old child were killed, and around 50 people were injured.
The violence is having the intended effect of driving Christians from the North. Nearly 95 per cent of the Christians have left Yobe State, where 20 churches have been torched and many lives have been lost.
Some are heading to the mainly Christian South, while others are crossing the border into Cameroon. The mass migration is precipitating a major humanitarian and spiritual crisis in Nigeria; Northern Christians who have been forced to leave behind their homes and jobs are in great need, while, as the Christian presence diminishes, the Church is being wiped off the map in the North.
Boko Haram has killed around 1,000 people since 2009 in its bloody campaign to establish an Islamic state in Northern Nigeria. As well as attacking Christians, the group targets police, security forces and politicians, and also Muslim leaders who oppose its agenda. Over 300 people have been killed so far this year.
The government has been trying to curtail Boko Haram’s activities, deploying military units across the country, and arresting and killing a number of members in recent weeks. But, issuing the latest threat, the group’s spokesman said that the government “cannot be prepared for what is to come”.

Apologizing For The Crusades.

Most of you have probably heard the media, at one time or another, make the claim that it was during the Crusades that Christians and Muslims met for the first time on the battlefield. You’ve heard it explained that the tragedy of the Crusades waged by Christians on innocent Muslims has resulted in the hatred and wars we see today between Islam and the West. But, did you know that Islam was the victor in those wars? Did you know that the Crusades were a delayed response to Islam’s conquest of nearly two-thirds of the Christian world? Did you know that Islam was waging Jihad on Christians for 4 centuries before Christians finally fought back in the 11th century? If the media is so eager to point out the admittedly violent acts of the Crusaders, shouldn’t they also be willing to point out the jihad waged by Muslims that led to those wars?
From the time of Muhammad, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword, and their declared goal was always the complete conquest of Europe for Islam. When Muhammad began his fight against the non-believer in the 7th century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. It spanned the entire Mediterranean and Middle East. After Muhammad’s death, Muslims continued their Jihad against Christianity with fierce determination, and their mission was largely successful. By the 8th Century, the Muslims had conquered Palestine, Syria, Egypt, all of North Africa, and Spain. By the 11th Century they had conquered Asia Minor and almost all of the old Roman Empire. Christianity was headed for extinction. It wasn’t until this point in history that the emperor in Constantinople sent word to Europe asking for help from fellow Christians. The crusades began as a desperate attempt to save Christianity from total annihilation by Islam. The aggressor of the medieval world was Islam, not Christianity as our anti-Christian, liberal friends would have us believe.
The Crusades are often portrayed by the uninformed or politically motivated as a mission by the Christians to loot, plunder and convert Muslims to Christianity. Nothing could be further from the truth. Scholars have discovered through historical records and the charters of the Crusaders that the majority of Crusaders were wealthy men with their own land in Europe. They gave up everything they had to go on what they considered a holy mission and, more often than not, came back with nothing. Nor was their mission one of colonialism. They fought to restore Jerusalem and Christian lands from the hands of Muslim Jihadists who had themselves pillaged, plundered, and conquered.
The Crusaders mission was never to convert Muslims. It was to defeat and defend against them. When the crusaders did win a territory, Muslims were always allowed to keep their religion and usually their land and property. The Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem always had a larger Muslim population than it did Catholic. Any later attempts to convert Muslims were by peaceful means, not by force. This cannot be said of the Muslim invaders. Conversion to Islam was forced by penalty of death in many cases, and when it wasn’t, Christians were forced to live as second-class citizens and pay the Jizya, a tax required of non-believers.
It’s interesting that the Islamic terrorists we are fighting today would use the crusades as a propaganda tool. After all, they won those wars. The crusades of the 12th and 13th centuries were largely unsuccessful. By 1291, the Muslim forces had succeeded in killing or ejecting the last of the Crusaders, thus erasing the Crusader kingdom from the map. Christians were never again able to gain back their land in the region until the 19th century. If the memory of the Crusades causes such anguish and anger for Muslims today, why is it that it doesn’t cause the same kind of anger for Christians? Why is the Christian response to invasion and conquest demonized, while Islam’s jihad against Christianity is often glorified? Going by this logic, when the World Trade Center towers fell, we should have apologized for the anger the crusades caused and promised to let them have New York should they invade.
The media would lead you to believe that the Crusaders crushed the Islamic world and left them in the dust. In fact the crusades failed. It was capitalism, the enlightenment, and the financial successes of the west that left the Islamic world behind. The Muslim threat was neutralized economically. The Muslim world was not oppressed, humiliated, defeated, or permanently offended by Christian Crusaders. We all need to realize that, had the Crusaders not finally attempted a defense, the world we know today would not exist. Christianity as we know it would not exist. Respect for women, democracy, freedom of religion would not exist. Those who are demanding that we now apologize to the Islamic world for the crusades, are either woefully uninformed, or are so anti-American they must resort to revisionist history to support their position. Either way, they don’t recognize that the ground they now stand on in the war on terror is not that dissimilar to that of the Crusaders who fought for their right to exist in a world where Islamic terrorism ran rampant.

Those who are demanding that we now apologize to the Islamic world for the crusades, are either woefully uninformed, or are so anti-American they must resort to revisionist history to support their position. Either way, they don’t recognize that the ground they now stand on in the war on terror is not that dissimilar to that of the Crusaders who fought for their right to exist in a world where Islamic terrorism ran rampant.

Multiculturalism Has Failed. . . In Nigeria.
Muslims Are Slaughtering Christians (& Catholics) Again In Modern Moderate Nigeria. Is There Not A Single Country In The World Where Multiculturalism Is A Success?

Nigeria’s 160 million population is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.
Muslims have been victims of Boko Haram attacks, but a wave of Christmas day bombings particularly targeting churches set off fears of retaliation from Christians.
President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency on Saturday in parts of four states hard hit by violence blamed on Boko Haram.
The declaration came in response to scores of attacks attributed to Boko Haram, particularly the bombings on Christmas that killed 49 people, most of them in a gruesome blast at a Catholic church as services were ending.
While Boko Haram has been carrying out increasingly deadly attacks for months, including an August suicide bombing of UN headquarters in Abuja that left 25 dead, the Christmas violence sparked intense fear and outrage.
It also led to warnings from Christian leaders that they would defend themselves if such attacks continued, raising deep concern.
While declaring the state of emergency in Africa’s largest oil producer, Jonathan acknowledged that the attacks “have threatened our collective security and shaken the foundations of our corporate existence as a nation.”
