Dilma Rousseff Is Ousted as Brazil’s President in Impeachment Vote

(nytimes) - BRASÍLIA — The Senate on Wednesday September 1 impeached Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s first female president, and removed her from office for the rest of her term, the capstone of a power struggle that has consumed the nation for months and toppled one of the hemisphere’s most powerful political parties.

The Senate voted 61 to 20 to convict Ms. Rousseff on charges of manipulating the federal budget in an effort to conceal the nation’s mounting economic problems.

But the final removal of Ms. Rousseff, who was suspended in May to face trial, was much more than a judgment of guilt on any charge. It was a verdict on her leadership and the slipping fortunes of Latin America’s largest country.

The impeachment puts a definitive end to 13 years of governing by the leftist Workers’ Party, an era during which Brazil’s economy boomed, lifting millions into the middle class and raising the country’s profile on the global stage.

But sweeping corruption scandals, the worst economic crisis in decades and the government’s tone-deaf responses to the souring national mood opened Ms. Rousseff to withering scorn, leaving her with little support to fend off apower grab by her political rivals.

“She lacked it all,” said Mentor Muniz Neto, a writer from São Paulo who described Ms. Rousseff’s final ouster as a “death foretold,” asserting that she lacked charisma, competence and humility. “We deserved better.”

To her many critics, the impeachment was a fitting fall for an arrogant leader at the helm of a political movement that had lost its way. But Ms. Rousseff and her supporters call her ouster a coup that undermines Brazil’s young democracy. (Full Text)

Third World USA: Woman berates Walmart customer for using food stamps in viral video

REAGAN'S FAULT!

- A video that is going viral shows a woman berating a man for using food stamps at Walmart.

“This all started by her saying to her son ‘see this is why you go to college so you don’t take handouts,'” the YouTube description states.

In the beginning of the video, you can hear the woman complaining to the father about how she is paying for his food.

“You know, I put in 50-60 hour weeks… trying to provide for my family,” the man says.

“You’re not providing for it, I am,” the woman says. “The government is.”

“You’re not,” the man says.

“They take it out of my check,” the woman says. “Bullsh*t they don’t.”

“Contact your local senators and congressmen and issue a complaint,” he says. “Vote Republican. I’m sorry; I don’t know what to tell you.”

“Oh, trust me, I am not a bleeding heart fu*king liberal,” the woman replies.

The woman later tells the man that he must be a Bernie Sanders supporter.

“That’s who you vote for,” she says. “They give it to you, so you vote that way.”

Both customers were with their children at the time of the argument.

The video of the confrontation has gone viral, receiving more than 3.8 million views on YouTube.

The video contains strong language viewer discretion is advised

More Americans On Welfare Than Work Full Time?

We need a revolution..

(townhall.com) - A new report from the Census Bureau showed a total of 108,592,000 people were on some sort of means-tested government benefits program in the fourth quarter of 2011, yet only 101,716,000 people were employed full-time for the entire year.

A individual counted as a beneficiary of a means-tested program if they resided in a household where someone received benefits.

Means-tested benefits programs are the second-largest category of government spending. The government spends more on these programs than public education and defense spending. From a Heritage Foundation report:

The 69 means-tested programmes operated by the federal government provide a wide variety of benefits. They include:

12 programmes providing food aid;

10 housing assistance programs;

10 programmes funding social services;

9 educational assistance programmes;

8 programmes providing cash assistance;

8 vocational training programmes;

7 medical assistance programs;

3 energy and utility assistance programmes; and,

2 child care and child development programmes.

Programmes such as Social Security, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and veterans benefits are not considered to be "means tested," so recipients of those benefits are not included in the 108,592,000 figure.

Clearly, this is a huge problem. A country cannot survive if its citizens are not willing or able to work. In 35 states welfare pays better than an actual job. This is what we call an "incentive"--and the U.S. is incentivizing people to not work. Why would a person actually get a job if they could be paid more to stay home? InPennsylvania, a single women with children working a job that pays $29,000 a year actually receives $57,345 in total income when benefits are factored in. Conversely, if the woman were to work a job that paid $69,000 a year, her net pay after taxes is only $57,045.

If the woman were to make more than her $29,000 salary, she would miss out in nearly $30,000 in government benefits. Short of winning the lottery or developing some sort of hot product, a person's income is not going to increase rapidly from $29,000 to $69,000. This is referred to as the "welfare cliff." There is no incentive for the woman to better her life and stop receiving welfare.

This is a major problem with how means-tested benefits are distributed in the United States, yet nobody is actually doing anything about it. The amount of people on SNAP (food stamps) has nearly doubled since 2006, despite the economic recovery. This is not good.

Disability claims are also at record highs. Even 60 Minutes thought those numbers were suspicious and did an investigation about it. The system is being gamed.

If American welfare recipients were counted as a country, they would be the 12th largest in the world.

This is not change we can believe in. (Source)

US: Obama Calls Soccer “Football”

The HORROR!

(moonbattery) - Never mind the dubious birth certificate. Here is how we know that Barack Hussein Obama is no American in any meaningful sense:
President Obama referred to the sport of soccer as “football” during a press conference in Brussels…, raising questions about his commitment to America.
Soccer is the sport of socialists. See herehere, and here for some of the many reasons why. It is also the sport of liberal elitist weenies who think American sports can’t possibly be good enough for them. The most obnoxious of these weenies will even call it “football,” as if that name had not already been taken in this country by a real sport that requires opposable thumbs, where something actually happens.

Do Conservatives dislike piercings as much as they dislike tattoos?

Conservatives have some nerve to put her down like this. It's discrimination! In the US, rehabilitated (released) criminals can't get jobs based on their past criminal history. Talk about a human rights catastrophe this side of the Missouri..

Here we go: Singapore's newest political party labeled Xenophobic & possibly racist

Right Wing politics come to Singapore:

- ...At first glance, it appears that Mr Tan Jee Say’s new party, Singaporeans First, has some impressive candidates with very good resume.

However, I’m not very comfortable with its xenophobic stand by putting Singaporeans First and ignoring the contributions of foreigners to Singapore. Let’s face it, we need foreigners. Singaporeans are not producing enough to support our economy.

Adopting a xenophobic stand does no good for Singapore.

US: Right wing homophobe evangelist Scott Lively to stand trial for ‘crimes against humanity’

Oh the humanity!

(pinknews.co.uk) - An anti-gay evangelist will face trial starting on Monday for the first sexuality-based lawsuit using a statute which allows foreign parties to sue in American courts, for allegedly playing a part in the controversial Ugandan ‘kill the gays’ bill.

Scott Lively is being sued by the organization Sexual Minorities Uganda, which alleges that his actions in Uganda over the past ten years led to the persecution, torture, arrest and murder of gay people in the country. The New York Times reported:

“The lawsuit alleges that beginning in 2002, Mr. Lively conspired with religious and political leaders in Uganda to whip up anti-gay hysteria with warnings that homosexuals would sodomize African children and corrupt their culture.”

VP Joe Biden: Jews Led Fight For Homosexual Marriage, Open Boarders, Feminism, & More.

Dear J*ws, THIS is why nobody likes you!

- Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United State praised American Jews for playing leading roles in the fight for homosexual marriage, open borders, feminism, “social justice,” and more. Biden said that Jews were one of the biggest factors, if not the single biggest, driving social change in the United States.

Speaking at the Jewish Heritage Month reception of the Democratic National Committee, Joe Biden credited Jewish people in Hollywood for changing the culture of America. He said Jews are responsible for 85% of America’s changing attitude on homosexual marriage. “Think — behind of all that, I bet you 85 percent of those changes, whether it’s in Hollywood or social media, are a consequence of Jewish leaders in the industry.”

“Jewish heritage has shaped who we are – all of us, us, me – as much or more than any other factor in the last 223 years. And that’s a fact,” said Biden.

Joe Biden also credited Jews with playing a major role in the feminist movement and changing America’s immigration policies to allow for massive third world immigration. Biden also praised Jews for playing a leading role in getting the Civil Rights Acts passed that mandated affirmative action policies and special privileges for minorities.

Speaking on Jewish political power, Biden stated ”the Jewish people have contributed greatly to America. No group has had such an outsized influence per capita as all of you standing before you, and all of those who went before me and all of those who went before you.”

Biden also praised all three Jewish Supreme Court justices by name. Biden ended his twenty minute speech to Jewish leaders by saying “we owe you, we owe generations who came before you.”

New York Magazine: Biden is correct, but talking about it is bad for Jews that he said it.

Barack Obama's Top 10 Enemies List.

10. Republican "Enemies," Bitter Clingers
It is no surprise that Barack Obama's "enemies" are being targeted. A community agitator who figuratively promised to bring a gun to a knife fight, called Republicans "enemies," urged people to get in their neighbors faces, derided Christians as bitter clingers, and preached "revenge" upon being re-elected is getting just that

9. President Obama's Kill List
"Mr. Obama is the liberal law professor who campaigned against the Iraq war and torture, and then insisted on approving every new name on an expanding 'kill list,' poring over terrorist suspects’ biographies on what one official calls macabre 'baseball cards'.... When a rare opportunity for a drone strike at a top terrorist arises — but his family is with him — it is the president who has reserved to himself the final moral calculation." (New York Times)

8. Business Adversaries

There have been complaints and suspicions that GOP-donating dealers were the first shut down after the government takeover. Republicans have "circulated a letter Thursday requesting Treasury Secretary Jack Lew... release documents detailing the process and methodology the Automotive Task Force used to shut down GM dealerships in 2009." (Breitbart)
7. Returning War Veterans, "Right-wing" Extremists
In a DHS "right-wing terrorism" report that has to be read to be believed, it was stated that the "current economic and political climate has some similarities to the 1990s when rightwing extremism experienced a resurgence." The report flagged and conflated "white supremacists," "violent antigovernment groups," various "right-wing" groups and even returning war veterans.

6. Talk Radio: Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity

“When you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it’s pretty apparent, but keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out,” Obama said. “It happens often when you’ve got an economy that is making people more anxious, and people are feeling that there’s a lot of change that needs to take place. But that’s not the vast majority of Americans.” On O'Reilly's show, Obama also called out Fox and Sean Hannity for promoting hate.

5. Political Opponent's Campaign Donors
During the president's re-election campaign, the website of Organizing for Action (formerly Obama for America) posted hit pieces on Romney donors. Frank Vandersloot [pictured above] was audited by the IRS and paid $80,000 in fees defending himself. There are unconfirmed claims that 15 major Romney donors were targeted.

4. EPA Bias Against Conservative Groups
"The free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute obtained documents showing that since January 2012, the EPA granted fee waivers for 75 out of 82 FOIA requests from major environmental groups and only denied seven of them, giving green groups a 92 percent success rate. At the same time, the EPA rejected or ignored 21 out of 26 fee waiver requests from conservative groups." (Daily Caller)

3. Tea Party, Patriots
Dissenters are undeniably being oppressed under the Obama administration. "An IRS campaign to apply additional scrutiny to conservative groups went beyond targeting 'Tea Party' and 'patriot' groups to include those focused on government spending, the Constitution and several other broad areas." (FOX)

2. Associated Press
"The screen on the phone console at the reception desk at The Associated Press Washington bureau, Monday, May 13, 2013. The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a 'massive and unprecedented intrusion' into how news organizations gather the news." (AP)

1. Fox News, James Rosen
The Guardian: "New revelations... are perhaps the most extreme yet when it comes to the DOJ's attacks on press freedoms." In an unprecedented move, the Justice Department treated Rosen like a criminal in order to violate his press freedom. The government tracked his phone calls and even his movements in his pursuit of a story.

Jewish Leaders Alarmed By Far-Right, Anti-Semitism In Hungary.

(Reuters) - The rise of far-right movements and anti-Semitism across Europe, notably in Hungary, where more than half a million Jews were killed in the Nazi Holocaust, will preoccupy Jewish leaders from around the globe when they meet in Budapest on Sunday.

"Clearly, anti-Semitism in Hungary is on the rise, and we have also witnessed a dramatic growth in the number of attacks against other minorities such as the Roma," World Jewish Congress (WJC) president Ronald Lauder told Reuters by email.

He said the rise of the far-right opposition party Jobbik posed a threat to Jews and other minorities living in Hungary.

"We believe that the Hungarian government should take stronger action to combat hate crimes. It should not just react, but present a long-term strategy how to improve the situation," Lauder said.

A WJC spokesman said the Congress had chosen Budapest as the venue for its annual meeting partly to show solidarity with the Hungarian Jewish community, but said Hungary was not the only European country where anti-Semitism was on the upswing.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's conservative government, which surged to power in 2010, has repeatedly condemned provocative remarks by Jobbik lawmakers in parliament.

NPR Promotes Orbit For Conservative Kansas: It Died 'After A Long & Difficult Battle With Extremism.

(April 29 2013)

(newsbusters.com) - In today’s installment of NPR Hates Conservatives, we offer a story from Saturday’s All Things Considered. Conservatism is killing Kansas under Gov. Sam Brownback, apparently. Anchor Jacki Lyden reported: “One political writer says it's time to write the state's obituary, and he did.”

Jason Probst read the first line of his screed out loud on national radio: “The great state of Kansas passed away on March 31, 2013 after a long and difficult battle with extremism.” Lyden added: “And that's our cover story today: Red or Dead? The new Kansas experiment.” With the exception of a few thoughts from Gov. Brownback, Lyden focused in on the leftists and their complaints that progressivism is being cast aside.

North Dakota Lawmakers Considering Outlawing All Abortions

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota lawmakers who approved what would be some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the U.S. are now considering outlawing all abortions.

The “personhood” measures would ban abortions by defining human life as beginning with conception. It’s drawing opposition from some doctors who say it could cause problems for infertile couples seeking to use in vitro fertilization to conceive, but supporters insist that’s addressed in the legislation.

The state Senate passed two personhood measures last month, and the House could vote as soon as Tuesday. One of the bills would make the proposal a state law and another is a resolution that would put the definition into the state constitution, if passed by voters.

North Dakota is one of several states with Republican-controlled Legislatures and GOP governors that is looking at abortion restrictions, but the state is could go further than any other in challenging the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 decision that legalized abortion.

Iceland To Consider Pornography Ban.

Iceland could become the first Western democracy to attempt censorship of the internet under radical proposals to block online pornography.

(Telegraph) - The government is considering introducing internet filters, such as those used to block China off form the worldwide web, in order to stop Icelanders downloading or viewing pornography on the internet.

The unprecedented censorship is justified by fears about damaging effects of the internet on children and women.

Ogmundur Jonasson, Iceland's interior minister, is drafting legislation to stop the access of online pornographic images and videos by young people through computers, games consoles and smartphones.

"We have to be able to discuss a ban on violent pornography, which we all agree has a very harmful effects on young people and can have a clear link to incidences of violent crime," he said.

Methods under consideration include blocking access to pornographic website addresses and making it illegal to use Icelandic credit cards to access pay-per-view pornography.

Income Tax Could Be Eliminated By Many Republican-Controlled States.

- Hopes for overhauling the federal tax system are fading in Washington, but in some state capitals, tax reform experiments – some far-reaching – are fast taking shape.

Across the U.S. South and Midwest, Republicans have consolidated control of state legislatures and governorships, giving them the power to test long-debated tax ideas.

Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, for instance, called on Thursday for ending the state’s income tax and corporate taxes, with sales taxes compensating for lost revenue.

A similar plan is being pushed by Republicans in North Carolina. Kansas, which cut its income tax significantly last year, may trim further. Oklahoma, which tried to cut income taxes last year, is expected to try again.

HATE: Israel Has Stopped Illegal Immigration, Human Trafficking.

As if National, Political, Racial Borders Weren't Hateful Enough It Seems Israel Has Taken A Stand Against Illegal Immigration & Human Trafficking. I Thought The Apartheid Era Was Over?

- At an annual event discussing ways to end human trafficking, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu declared that the problem of illegal immigration into Israel "has been solved.” With no more than a few dozen illegals managing to get into Israel in recent months, Netanyahu said that for all intents and purposes, his government had managed to put an end to illegal immigration, and with it, the problem of human trafficking.

Why Do The Left & Right Mean Liberal & Conservative?

During the election season the words left and right denote political affiliation more than spatial direction. But where do these associations come from?

The left hand has long been associated with deviance. The word “sinister” originally meant “to the left” in Latin. The word “left” comes from the Old English word lyft, which literally meant “weak, foolish.” To avoid the negative and superstitious associations of the left side, many languages used euphemisms for it. In Old English the left side was called winestra, which meant “friendlier.” In Greek it was called aristeros or “the better one.”

When did the political affiliation of these two common words arise? In fact, the association is not American at all. It originated during the French Revolution. In the 1790s, King Louis XVI was fighting with the Legislative Assembly. Like our modern-day House of Representatives, seating in the French Legislative Assembly was arranged based on political affiliation. The King sat in front of the assembly. To his right sat the conservative Feuillants who backed the king and believed in a constitutional monarchy. To his left sat the liberal Girondists and radical Jacobins who wanted to install a completely democratic government. Oddly enough, in the U.S. House of Representatives the tables have turned: members of the Republican party sit to the left of the House Speaker and members of the Democratic party sit to his or her right.

It wasn’t until the early 20th century that Left and Right denoted political affiliation in Britain and the US, and the more politically loaded terms “leftwing” and “rightwing” were not widely used until after 1960.
