Driest September In 130 Years May Bring Spring Struggle.

(myfoxtwincites) - Farmers nationwide have been struggling with drought this year, but next year could be even worse now that fields are facing winter without the six to nine inches of rain they'll need to be ready for a good spring planting.

So far, only about 0.3 inches of rain has fallen this month, which is two inches below average.

While few homeowners are complaining about the unusually dry September, their landscaping could languish next year.

Oops! Police Raid Wrong Home In Suspected Drug Raid.

(ABC News) - A 61-year-old man was shot to death by police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug raid on the wrong house.

Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door.

John Adams was watching television when his wife heard pounding on the door. Police claim they identified themselves and wore police jackets. Loraine Adams said she had no indication the men were police.

Police say her husband fired first with a sawed-off shotgun and they responded. He was shot at least three times and died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

2 Dead 4 Wounded In Minneapolis Office Terrorist Attack.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A man fired from his job at a Minneapolis sign-making business pulled out a handgun and began shooting up its offices, fatally wounding the owner and four others before turning the gun on himself, police said Friday.

Andrew Engeldinger, 36, injured at least three others in the Thursday attack at Accent Signage Systems, which Police Chief Tim Dolan said lasted no more than 15 minutes. Dolan also said Engeldinger may have chosen to spare some former co-workers.

Trampolines Deemed Bad For Your Health.

If Trampolines Are So Bad Then Why Are They Not Illegal?

(FOXNEWS) — Kids should stay off trampolines at home and at the playground, U.S. pediatricians urged Monday, saying emergency departments across the country see nearly 100,000 injuries from the bouncy mats each year.

The new statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) updates recommendations from 1999, which caused manufacturers to add safety features to the products in an attempt to mitigate the risks.

However, these measures may “provide a false sense of security,” according to the group.

“As best we can tell, the addition of safety nets and padding has actually not changed the injuries we have seen,” said Dr. Susannah Briskin, a sports medicine specialist who helped draft the new statement.

Minnesota Church's Vandalized By Pro Sodomite.

And They Say Christians Er Bad! Lulz!

(nbcnews) - Five churches in the city of Buffalo, Minnesota were the targets of what police are calling a "biased crime." The churches targeted are St. Francis Xavier, Zion Lutheran, 7th Day Adventist, Buffalo Presbyterian, and Hosanna Lutheran.

Pastor Jarvis found the poster on Sunday before services that contained homosexual content.

The content apparently so offensive that no one, including the police, would quote it exactly.

Also no riots or condemnation were reported in response.

Pennsylvania High School Band Celebrates Russian Revolution During Halftime Show.

(moonbattery.com) Exert - A Pennsylvania high school marching band is raising eyebrows with a halftime performance that commemorates the Russian revolution, complete with red flags, olive military-style uniforms, and giant hammers and sickles.

“St. Petersburg: 1917” is the theme for the New Oxford High School Marching Band. Ironically, the school’s athletic teams are called the Colonials and their colors are red, white and blue. The band’s website features a picture of the group with students holding a hammer and sickle.

Brave New World: Russia Planning To Build Eurasian Union?

(wnd.com) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has plans to turn a nascent Customs Union comprised of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan for free trade into a Eurasian Union that includes all of Eurasia, countries of Central and even East Asia.

Russia already has initiated efforts with countries such as Vietnam in the Far East to undertake more economic and military trade.

While development of the Eurasian Union has been slow, it is expected to formally come into existence in 2015.

Analysts believe it is Putin’s vision to use the Eurasian Union as a basis to reclaim the nation-states which were once part of the Soviet Union – and then some.

Putin’s efforts to bring Asian countries into the Eurasian Union reflect his desire to expand into a greater economic union with countries with which Russia has expanded trade. Ultimately it could be a big free-trade zone.

Some of this thinking became increasingly apparent at the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vladivostok. At the summit, Putin said he wants to promote active collaboration between the existing Customs Union and the Asia-Pacific countries.

He said that dozens of countries have sought trade agreements with the Customs Union, giving Putin the hope of expanding into a greater Eurasian Union.

Depending on the success of setting up successful trade with Vietnam, Putin envisions the country becoming an Asian hub for former Soviet states and perhaps other Asian nations.

While Putin’s vision is to open a vast free trade zone from the Caucasus and Central Asia to the Far East, his motives also have a political intention. He continues to see China as a form of competition, both economically and politically, and sees the Eurasian Union as a way to check China in the region.

This could cause a potential future confrontation between Russia and China which already is asserting its military capability in the East and South China Seas and considers them being in its sphere of influence.

U.S. Obesity Rates To Soar By 2030.

(Reuters) - If Americans stick to their eating and exercise habits, future historians will look back on the early 21st century as a golden age of svelte.

Using a model of population and other trends, a new report released on Tuesday by the Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation projects that half of U.S. adults will be obese by 2030 unless Americans change their ways.

German Homeschoolers Say Treatment 'Inhuman, Cold, Brutal'.

In that atmosphere, global conference scheduled to be held.

(wnd.com) - Juergin Dudek of Germany says his nation’s treatment of homeschoolers is “utterly inhuman, cold, brutal – run by bureaucrats who think they’re only doing their job but uphold the system at all costs.”

He’d know. After all, he and his wife repeatedly have been convicted and fined for homeschooling their own children. One time they even were sentenced to jail, a penalty challenged on appeal.

It’s into that atmosphere in Berlin, where the government has been known to describe homeschooling as child abuse and makes it a violation of the law, that the Global Home Education Conference 2012 is preparing to hold its first-ever meetings, Nov. 1-4.

For Swedes, it’s the last of these questions—the one about the unintelligible, shotgun-wielding, and much beloved chaos Muppet—that is especially vexing.

Russia Must Counter Nationalist Threat, Putin Says.

(Reuters.com 8/23/12) - President Vladimir Putin said on 8/23 that Russia must counter a serious threat from nationalists he said were taking advantage of democratic freedoms to gain influence in a country with a fragile mix of ethnic groups.

He rebuked local authorities, saying recent outbreaks of ethnic violence were “primarily the result of the inaction of law enforcement organs and irresponsibility of bureaucrats”.

“Today more and more often, under the guise of development of democracy and freedom, various ethnic nationalist groups are raising their heads. They take part in rallies, work on the Internet and among teenagers and students,” Putin said,

“In essence they all are pushing, provoking separatist tendencies inside Russia,” the president said, addressing the first meeting of his Council on Inter-Ethnic Relations. “It is important to confront their dangerous influence.”

Russia has seen several outbreaks of ethnic violence in recent years, including December 2010 riots near the Kremlin in which thousands of nationalist soccer fans attacked non-Slavic passers-by and clashed with police.

Nationalist soccer fans on Thursday attacked supporters of a team from the Muslim North Caucasus province of Dagestan in Moscow and St Petersburg, cities where tension between ethnic Russians and migrants from the Caucasus and other areas has risen.

“Corruption and prejudice among representatives of state bodies, and their inability to provide justice and defend people’s interests, are fuelling ethnic conflict and tension,” Putin said.

Putin interrupted a working vacation in the Black Sea resort of Sochi to travel to Saransk, capital of central Russia’s Mordovia region, home to the Finno-Ugric speaking Mordvin people—one of over 200 ethnic groups in Russia.

The trip was to mark what is considered the 1,000th anniversary of the region joining Russia. It was part of Putin’s effort to cast himself as a protector of Russia’s unity and ethnic diversity and use his power to discourage ethnic tension.
