Mexico Sues BP Over Gulf Disaster As Oil Giant Faces 2,200 New Lawsuits In Less Than 2 Months.

(telegraph.co.uk) - The explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig on April 20, 2010, killed 11 men and unleashed the worst offshore oil spill in US history.

In first-quarter results on Tuesday, BP said that since March 6 it had been named as a defendant "in more than 2,200 additional civil lawsuits brought by individuals, corporations and government entities" and warned that "further actions are likely to be brought".

It said the plaintiffs in these cases included "a foreign government", understood to be Mexico, which had threatened to sue BP soon after the 2010 accident.

BP said it believed the onslaught of new lawsuits had been submitted ahead of the third anniversary of the disaster, after which the company could have tried to use a statute of limitations to dismiss their claims.

BP has now made provisions of $42.2bn for the costs of the spill but has warned that this does not include amounts for obligations it cannot reliably measure and the final bill remains subject to "significant uncertainty".

North Dakota Governor Signs Strict Abortion Limits.

FARGO, N.D. (nytimes) — Gov. Jack Dalrymple of North Dakota approved the nation’s toughest abortion restrictions on Tuesday, signing into law a measure that would ban nearly all abortions and inviting a legal showdown over just how much states can limit access to the procedure.
Mr. Dalrymple, a Republican, signed three bills passed by the Republican-controlled Legislature in Bismarck. The most far-reaching law forbids abortion once a fetal heartbeat is “detectable,” which can be as early as six weeks into a pregnancy. Fetal heartbeats are detectable at that stage of pregnancy using a transvaginal ultrasound.

Most legal scholars have said the law would violate the Supreme Court’s finding in Roe v. Wade that abortions were permitted until the fetus was viable outside the womb, generally around 24 weeks. Even some leaders of the anti-abortion movement nationally have predicted that laws banning abortion so early in pregnancy are virtually certain to be declared unconstitutional by federal courts.

Saudi Students In U.S. Up More Than 500% Since

(CNSNews.com) - The number of Saudi Arabian students in the United States has increased by more than 500 percent since Sept. 11, 2001--when Hani Hanjour, a Saudi national who came here on a student visa flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, killing 189 people.

According to the Institute of International Education--whose numbers on foreign students in the United States are used in official reports published by the U.S. Department of Education--there were 5,579 Saudi nationals enrolled in U.S. institutions of higher education in the 2001-2002 school year. The Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks took place near the beginning of that school year.

In the 2011-2012 school year, the most recent year for which data are available, there were 34,139 Saudi nationals enrolled in institutions of higher education in the United States.

Four Arrested As Bangladesh Building Toll Rises To 352.

(Reuters) - Two factory bosses and two engineers were detained in Bangladesh on Saturday, three days after the collapse of a building where low-cost garments were made for Western brands killed at least 352 people.

More were being pulled alive from the rubble at the building, where police said as many as 900 people were still missing in Bangladesh's worst ever industrial accident.

The owner of the eight-storey building that fell like a pack of cards around more than 3,000 mainly young women workers was still on the run.

Police said several of his relatives were detained to compel him to hand himself in, and an alert had gone out to airport and border authorities to prevent him from fleeing the country.

Diversity Triumph: London Teenager Hacked To Death By Gang In Broad Daylight.

CCTV footage has been released of the murder of a fifteen-year old boy at Victoria Station in the heart of London.

Sofyen Belamouadden was stabbed nine times in a 12-second attack after being chased by a gang.

(BNP) - He was described as a gifted footballer, who was very popular with both pupils and staff.

One of his teachers said Sofyen had a wonderful sense of humour. He was not himself a member of any gang and was unarmed when he was attacked.
The gang that killed Sofyen came from another school in Ladbroke Grove on the route of the Notting Hill Carnival.

Pupils from both schools travelled through Victoria Station daily and the St Charles pupils had come to regard it as part of their “home territory”.

The night before the killing, there had been a small fight between youths at the Station.

One of the gang ended up with a bloodied nose and the fight had been broken up by Police, who had increased patrols in the area due to the tensions.

Man Too Sexy For Saudi Arabia?

(Telegraph) - Omar Borkan Al Gala, a smouldering poet, actor, and photographer from Dubai, is rumoured to be one third of the chiselled trio that was deported by Saudi authorities who feared that they would prove irresistible to the Kingdom's women.

The three men from the United Arab Emirates are said to have been removed from the Jenadrivah Heritage & Culture Festival in Riyadh because they were "too handsome".

Women, and some men, across the world have been longing for a glimpse of the illegally attractive men and the internet's probing spotlight has fallen on Al Gala.

The young man, who appears to be wearing eye-liner in many of his Facebook glamour shots, posted a link to an article about the deportation with the comment: "This is what written in newspapers in over the world :)"

Although far from definitive proof, the post set off a stampede of speculation, which Al Gala has done nothing to discourage.

Instead he has continued to post his sultry pictures, sometimes wearing a Lakers jersey and at others posing with a sports car or with a rifle.

"The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides," he posted in one typically meaningless caption.

But to his admirers he can do no wrong. "Killing me softly with these eyes," one wrote.

How his new fans will react if the whole episode emerges to have simply been a clever public relations stunt remains to be seen.

At Least 123 Killed, 1,000 Hurt In Bangladesh Building Collapse.

Dhaka, Bangladesh (CNN) -- An eight-story building collapsed Wednesday on the outskirts of the Bangladeshi capital, killing at least 123 people and injuring more than 1,000, officials said.

Broken concrete and twisted metal stuck out from the massive pile of rubble, where rescuers dug by hand to reach trapped workers. Dhaka District Police Chief Habibur Rahman said search efforts were continuing Wednesday night. It was unclear how many people were trapped in the ruins, he said, and the death toll could increase.

Video from the scene showed injured victims being whisked away on stretchers and crews carrying limp bodies from the rubble. Some onlookers wept while others frantically searched for missing loved ones.

Christians Plead With Swedish High Court To Free Government-Abducted Homeschooled Boy.

(christiannewsnet) - Christians around the world are being asked to help plead for the release of an 11-year-old boy who was abducted by government officials in 2009 because his parents chose to homeschool the child.

As previously reported, Domenic Johansson was seized by the Swedish government in 2009 as he and his parents, Christer and Annie Johansson, were boarding a plane to move to Annie’s homeland of India. He was only seven years old at the time, and social services state that they removed the child because he was being homeschooled by his parents.

The Johanssons were only allowed to see their son for one hour every five weeks. He was placed in foster care and forced to attend public school. The following year, the government cut off all parental visitations to Domenic.

Mexico's Zetas Cartel Recruiting Americans Since 2010.

(FoxNews) - Mexico’s ultra-violent Zetas drug cartel has made connections and collaborated with U.S. gangs throughout the United States since at least 2010, a leaked, confidential FBI document revealed.

The FBI intelligence bulletin, published by the free information group Public Intelligence, showed that the Zetas have formed strong bonds with gangs of both Mexican and non-Mexican Americans to facilitate drug trafficking and enforcement on both sides of the border. The presence of Zetas-linked gangs is especially prominent along Texas’ southwest border and in Houston.

“The FBI judges with high confidence that Los Zetas will continue to increase its recruitment efforts and establish pacts with non-military trained, non-traditional associates to maintain their drug trafficking and support operations,” the report stated.

Gunman Kills 6 People With Hunting Rifle In Russia.

(Reuters) - A man shot dead six people, including two schoolgirls, with a rifle after robbing a hunting shop in the western Russian city of Belgorod on Monday, local officials said.

Police said their main suspect was a former convict in his thirties, adding that the attacker had fled in an expensive car.

The man, who was still on the run on Monday evening, first opened fire at the personnel of the shop and then also shot dead passersby outside in the city's main street, police said.

Amateur footage posted online showed corpses lying covered on the pavement and a crowd of onlookers gathered nearby in the centre of Belgorod, a city near the Ukrainian border about 650 km (400 miles) south of Moscow.

"Five people died on the spot" and another one died in hospital of gunshot wounds, the Belgorod municipality said on its website. Two girls, aged 14 and 16, were among the victims, the statement added.

Slate: 'Legalize Polygamy, I Am Not Kidding'

(NewsBusters) - Gay marriage advocates have frequently scoffed at CONservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Rick Santorum who say legalizing same-sex marriage will lead to the classification of other relationships as “marriage,” such as multiple spouses, incest and bestiality. Now some on the left are happily gliding down the “slippery slope.”

Slate’s April 15th article called “Legalize polygamy: No. I am not kidding," ” proposes—you guessed it—legalized polygamy. The article’s author, Jillian Keenan, stated that the problems with polygamy from certain fundamentalist Mormon circles can easily be resolved with legalizing those families. Using examples of coercion and abuse, Keenan rationalized that legalizing polygamy will allow children and women to report to the police when problems occur, instead of staying in hiding because of their illegal lifestyles.

As with drugs or prostitution, this strain of liberal thought holds that if we legalize something that is inherently harmful or risky, it will somehow become safer. But there is a reason some behaviors are proscribed by law: they aren’t healthy for society or individuals. That doesn’t seem to matter to Keenan, who claimed that whether or not these marriages are healthy “should have no bearing on the legal process.”

Keenan then appealed to religious freedom, arguing the rights of fundamentalist LDS members and Muslim families with multiple wives as being protected in the Constitution in the same way that same sex partners should be. Finally, Keenan invoked feminism, saying that if a woman “wants to marry a man with three other wives, that’s her damn choice.”

What’s scariest though, is Keenan’s view of marriage in general: (hint: it’s a lot like liberals view of the Constitution). “The definition of marriage is plastic,” she wrote. “Just like heterosexual marriage is no better or worse than homosexual marriage, marriage between two consenting adults is not inherently more or less “correct” than marriage among three (or four, or six) consenting adults.”

So marriage is a living, changing institution, subject to the fickle whims present culture. It is whatever liberals like Keenan says it is at any given moment.

She ended with a rallying cry, “So let’s fight for marriage equality until it extends to every same-sex couple in the United States—and then let’s keep fighting. We’re not done yet.”

At least Keenan is honest about what she wants. If your objective is the bottom, you may as well own the slippery slope.

Strong Quake Jolts China's Sichuan Provence Killing 160.

#PrayForChina

YA'AN, China (AP) -- Residents awoke Sunday after spending the night outdoors or in their cars in a town near the epicenter of a powerful earthquake that struck the steep hills of China's southwestern Sichuan province, leaving at least 160 people dead and more than 6,700 injured.

The earthquake Saturday morning triggered landslides and disrupted phone and power connections in mountainous Lushan county five years after a devastating quake wreaked widespread damage across the region.

The village of Longmen was hit particularly hard, with authorities saying nearly all the buildings there had been destroyed in a frightening minute-long shaking by the quake.

In nearby Ya'an town, where aftershocks were felt nearly a day after the quake, residents sat in groups outside convenience stores watching the news on television sets. Fourteen-year-old Wang Xing sat with her family on chairs by the roadside in the cool night air, a large blanket on her lap.

25 Craziest Things The U.S. Government Spends Money On

- With trillions of dollars in debt, the U.S. government, like a runaway shopaholic, still manages to find ridiculous things to throw its dollar bills at. Just remember though, that relative to how much is spent annually on defense and social security, even the costliest of these expenses would make barely a dent in the national budget. So, from pancakes to prostitutes, monkey poop to video games, here are the 25 craziest things the U.S. government spends money on. (Click for accompanying article)

India Has One Third Of World's Poorest, Says World Bank.

One in three of the world's poorest people are living in India, the world's second-fastest growing economy, according to a new study by the World Bank.

(Telegraph) - While new figures show that the number of those in extreme poverty around the world - surviving on 82 pence per day or less - has declined significantly, India now has a greater share of the world's poorest than it did thirty years ago. Then it was home to one fifth of the world's poorest people, but today it accounts for one-third - 400 million.

The study, The State of the Poor: Where are the Poor and Where are the Poorest?, found the number of extremely poor people had declined from half the world's population in 1981 to one fifth in 2010, but voiced concern at its increase in Sub-Saharan Africa and continuing high level in India.

World Bank president Jim Yong Kim said while the overall decline was "remarkable progress", the remaining 1.2 billion people living in extreme poverty was "a stain on our collective conscience." His colleague, World Bank chief economist Kaushik Basu, who until last year was economic advisor to Indian prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, said the figures called for the world's wealthier countries to do more.

Huge Blast At Texas Fertilizer Plant Injures Over 100.

(nytimes) WEST, Tex. — A huge explosion tore through a fertilizer plant near West, a town in central Texas on Wednesday night, causing over 100 injuries and an unknown number of deaths, laying waste to swathes of buildings and potentially sending toxic fumes into the air, authorities said.

The explosion, in the quiet town of fewer than 3,000, ripped through the night at around 8 p.m. local time, said Representative Bill Flores, a Republican who represents the district.

It began with a smaller fire at the plant, West Fertilizer, just off Interstate 35, about 20 miles north of Waco, Mr. Flores said, which was attended by local volunteer firefighters. “The fire spread and hit some of these tanks that contain chemicals to treat the fertilizer,” Mr. Flores said, “and there was an explosion which caused wide damage.”

Videos posted online showed a large fire, visible from hundreds of yards away, followed by a fireball that blasted high into the sky and, according to television footage, set fires burning into the night.

“Right now we have a tremendous amount of injuries, probably over 100 injuries at this time,” D.L. Wilson, a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety, told reporters at a press conference early Thursday morning. “We do have confirmed fatalities,” he said, but declined to say how many because a search of the area was being conducted.

Why Greenland Is An Island & Australia Is A Continent.

(todayIfoundout) - There are several different ways of thinking about how many continents there are, with models ranging from 4 to 7 continents. However, in most English speaking countries, as well as other nations around the world, the 7-continent model is taught. Using this model, the continents of the world in order of size (descending) are: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.

One of the biggest differences between Australia and Greenland, other than their obvious climate differences, is population. Australia has over 22 million inhabitants, making it the 55th most populous nation in the world. Greenland, on the other hand, has just over 57 thousand inhabitants, making it the 205th most populous nation in the world. However, if population determined continental status, Antarctica would not be considered a continent, either.

Australia and Greenland have quite a few features in common. People living in both countries largely live along the coast due to nearly uninhabitable land covering each of the countries—in Greenland, the natural barrier is an ice cap, while in Australia it’s a desert. Australia is an island in the South Pacific, roughly 7.75 million square kilometres (about 3 million square miles) and the sixth largest country in the world. Greenland is an island that sits between the Arctic Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean. It is just over 2.16 million square kilometres (834K square miles), making it the twelfth largest country in the world. Greenland is the largest island after Australia—so why isn’t it considered a continent, too?

It turns out that there are no official conditions that each continent has to meet in order to be considered a continent, which explains why there are so many different models of thinking when it comes to how many continents there are. However, there are several largely accepted factors that classify different regions of the world as continents. These factors include tectonic independence from other continents, unique flora and fauna, cultural uniqueness, and local belief in continental status.

Looking at Australia and Greenland, Australia meets several of these conditions. Australia rests on its own tectonic plate called the Australian Plate. It certainly has its own unique flora and fauna, with native animals like kangaroos, wombats, and Tasmanian Devils unlike any others in the world. Australia’s historic aboriginal culture is also somewhat unique. Currently, the country is more “Western” in ideology than most other countries in the South Pacific region, making it a unique culture in its area. Lastly, the locals consider themselves to live on both an island and a continent, fulfilling the last of the criteria.

Greenland, on the other hand, sits on the North American tectonic plate. It is not geologically separate from Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Although Greenland has fifteen unique species of plants, its fauna, such as reindeer, polar bears, and arctic foxes, can also be found elsewhere, such as in Canada. While Greenland does have its own culture, it is considered part of the larger North American arctic culture. Finally, Greenlanders do not, for the most part, believe that they live on a continent. They consider themselves islanders.

These definitions are shaky, however. Looking at a map of tectonic plates, you can see that Europe sits on the Eurasian Tectonic Plate along with most of Asia. Only cultural difference and a feeling of separateness defines it as a separate continent. Similarly, India has its own tectonic plate as well—but in this case, a sense of similar culture and flora and fauna makes India part of Asia rather than its own continent.

It seems that to be a continent, an area must fulfill most of the unofficial criteria above if it doesn’t fulfill it all. In this case, Australia succeeds where Greenland does not, and a line is drawn between what makes the smallest continent and the largest island.

Boston Marathon Bomb Blasts - 2 Dead, Dozens Injured, Person Of Interest In Custody.

(FoxNews) - At least two people are dead and 73 injured – including up to 10 with amputated limbs – after two bombs tore through the finish line of the Boston Marathon, according to the Boston Police Department.

Authorities were guarding a person of interest at a local hospital, sources told FoxNews.com. The person, who sources said was 20 years old, had severe burns, but authorities had not determined whether the person was a victim or a perpetrator. Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis said during a press conference that no suspect is in custody.

The simultaneous explosions just before 3 p.m. and reports of two other unexploded devices found near the scene raised suspicions of a terrorist attack. Intelligence officials told The Associated Press two unexploded devices were being dismantled. Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the bloody chaos, while some witnesses reported seeing victims with lost limbs.

Nebraska Bus Driver Assaults Passenger.

(Telegraph) - A Nebraska bus driver accused of assaulting a passenger repeatedly punched the man before dragging him off the vehicle and leaving him on the side of a road, surveillance video shows.

Officials released the video and announced 43-year-old Troy Fischer had since been fired from his job at StarTran Bus Service, according to a local newspaper report. He is being investigated on suspicion of assault following the incident.

The video shows Mr Fischer communicating with the lone passenger. At some point, Mr Fischer becomes agitated with the man. He stops the bus and begins attacking him. The video shows him punching the passenger 18 times. He then drags him off the bus and leaves him on the side of a road.

Miki Esposito, director for the city's Public Works and Utilities Department, said Mr Fischer was initially suspended without pay after the incident. But he was fired after a disciplinary hearing that allowed him to rebut the allegations.

Investigators have been unable to reach the man in the video, who provided an address and phone number to police on the day of the attack.

New Mexican Barbie's Chihuahua & Passport Stir Up Controversy

Mexico Barbie from Mattel's Dolls of the World collection. (Mattel/Barbie)Mexico Barbie 2013 (Mattel)

(upi.com) - Mexico Barbie hit shelves with a ruffled pink dress, semi-permed hair, passport and pet chihuahua, and many Mexican Americans have spoken out against the stereotype.

While all the dolls in the collection come with a passport, some critics say Mexico Barbie is culturally insensitive, rather than an educational tool that "teaches girls about the culture, traditions and ancestral dress of Mexico," as described by Mattel on its website.

Jason Ruiz, a professor of American studies at Notre Dame University told ABC News he finds common representations of Mexican Americans in pop culture as feisty, lively characters, associations that he says have outlived their time. "[Mexican Americans] are tired of being seen as merely colorful," he said.

Although Ruiz didn't find the passport offensive, he said he understood why some people might have a problem with it. "It is a point of contention and great sensitivity for people of Mexican origin, especially Mexican immigrants," he said. "Papers decide everything for immigrants from Mexico."

Despite the backlash, Mattel stands by the doll.

Texas College Student Wounds 14 In Stabbing Spree.

This was not labeled a 'hate crime' how? Besides we need union wide knife control...

(Reuters) - A community college student who said he had fantasized since childhood about stabbing people to death went on a slashing spree at his Houston campus on Tuesday, wounding at least 14 people, two of them critically, before bystanders subdued him, police said.

The suspect, identified as Lone Star College student Dylan Quick, 20, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault stemming from the rampage, carried out with a weapon described by the Harris County Sheriff's Department as a "razor-type knife."

Eyewitness accounts cited in local media reports on the attack said the weapon appeared to be a box-cutter or "exacto" knife.

The campus, part of a Houston-area community college network, was placed on a security lockdown and closed for the remainder of the day.

The northwest Houston campus where the attack occurred has about 20,000 students.

Divide & Conquer: A Mob Of 30 Blacks Shouting 'Honky' & 'Crackers' Wasn't A Hate Crime.

Shit like this is why people hate racial nationalism (or nationalism in general) - And all 'whitey' does is complain. Go figure.

(violenceagainstwhites) - Invoking the name “Martin Luther King” and screaming “Black Power!” a gang of up to 30 black teens attacked four white girls in Marine Park in what police are saying is not a bias crime.

The March 30 attack was a hot topic at state Senator Marty Golden’s recent public safety forum.

According to witnesses and parents of the victims, four young girls from St. Edmund’s had the day off from school due to Easter recess. They were playing basketball during dismissal from nearby Marine Park Junior High School, when several Marine Park students demanded to use the court.

After adults intervened and asked them to wait their turn, the teens left – but returned in a pack of up to 30, both boys and girls, and stormed into the park.

Witnesses say the attackers were all black and called their victims “white crackers” during the bloody melee, which raged for almost 20 minutes.

“This is not being looked at as a bias crime,” NYPD Deputy Inspector Kevin McGinn said at the meeting.

Source & full story: Brooklyn Skyline

The Brooklyn Skyline is now defunct but was a local paper which finally revealed the true nature of events after the white parents complained about the lack of investigation of the racial angle. Many other sources online corroborate the series of events, although most have the liberal cover-up “it wasn’t racist it was just kids misbehaving” slant the white parents complained about. Here it is on wikipedia:

The Marine Park Race Attack was an attack, suspected to be racially motivated, that took place in the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood of Marine Park on March 30, 2005. In the attack, a group of African-American teenaged girls from Marine Park High School chased six Caucasian girls off of a basketball court and through a park. The African-American girls reportedly physically harassed the girls while screaming such phrases as “honky bitches” and “white crackers.” Five of them were arrested[1] and given probationary sentences after the mothers of those attacked wrote to the judge and quotingNelson Mandela asked for compassion.[2]

U.S. Evangelicals: Immigration Reform Is A Biblical Issue.

*Facepalm*

(Newsmax) - They’ve been mostly silent until now, but evangelical Christians are coming out publicly in support of a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, making the case that immigration reform is a Biblical issue.

According to The Wall Street Journal, a group of 300 evangelical leaders will gather next week in Washington, D.C., to lobby lawmakers on the divisive issue as negotiations in the Senate inch closer to producing a bipartisan reform bill.

“Republican lawmakers take guidance from evangelical America on social policy issues,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum. “That evangelicals have taken on immigration bodes well for passage of comprehensive reform.”

There have already been meetings between evangelical leaders and Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and GOP Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, who will help craft the House bill as chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

“We have been encouraging of folks like Marco Rubio and provided them with critical cover,” said Ralph Reed, founder and chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition. “What really changed the political calculus was the introduction of a religious, spiritual, and compassionate case for immigration reform.”

Not everyone agrees with the new position that evangelicals are taking, however, including GOP Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, who believes evangelical leaders ought to use the Biblical passages they cite with caution.

“The Bible contains numerous passages that do not necessarily support amnesty [for illegal immigrants] and instead support the rule of law,” said Smith. “The Scriptures clearly indicate that God charges civil authorities with preserving order, protecting citizens, and punishing wrongdoers.”

A poll conducted last month by the Pew Research Center shows a shift in the evangelical position on immigration. In 2010, 66 percent of white evangelical Christians saw immigrants as a burden on the United States. Only 55 percent feel that way now.

'Married' Homosexuals Go To Trial For Raping Adopted Boys.

Via Moonbattery.com:

Here is something you will be seeing a lot more of, as relentless media brainwashing allows liberals to ram through the homosexual agenda. But don’t expect it to lead off the evening news:

George Harasz and Douglas Wirth, a married couple from Glastonbury, Conn., were arrested in November 2011 following allegations by two of their nine adopted children of sexual abuse.

Yes, you read that correctly. Harasz and Wirth are “married” to each other. Some will already be used to this sort of absurdity; others will still stop and gasp, “What?”

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial.
They had agreed to plead no contest to minor charges, but backed out in a bid to get off scot-free.

If Harasz, 49, and Wirth, 45, had continued with the deal, they would have been given suspended prison sentences and probation, WFSB-TV said.

This for crimes that many would agree easily warrant the death penalty.

Five of their adopted sex slaves have now come forward, reporting sexual abuse.

One of the victims who spoke during the court hearing said sexual assault began when he was 6.

“They took turns raping me over and over,” he said. “Anyone who would do this to a child is a sick, demented person.”

Likewise, any society that would facilitate it is a sick, demented society.

U.S. Army Labels Evangelical Christians, Roman Catholics, & Some Jews 'Religious Extremists'

(Fox News) - A U.S. Army training instructor listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism along with Al Qaeda and Hamas during a briefing with an Army Reserve unit based in Pennsylvania, Fox News has learned.

“We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.”

The incident occurred during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. Topping the list is Evangelical Christianity. Other organizations listed included Catholicism, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, Sunni Muslims, and Nation of Islam.

The military also listed “Islamophobia” as a form of religious extremism.

(Reuters) - A shooting at a daycare center near Ottawa on Friday left two adults dead, one of them the gunman, but police said all 53 children at the center were unharmed.

Police said they received a call for help Friday morning after shots were fired in the Montessori daycare center in Gatineau, Quebec, just across the Ottawa River from the Canadian capital.

"We have two deceased. One of the males is the person responsible for the shooting and the second person is another male who works here at the daycare," Gatineau Police Chief Mario Haren told reporters.

He said all the children - including five babies - were safe after being evacuated by police officers to a nearby house.

Haren would not confirm the identities of the deceased, saying their families had not been notified.

He said a shotgun was found near the body of the presumed shooter, and that police were investigating the possibility that the shooting was related to a domestic dispute.

Earlier, CBC television reported seeing an adult-sized body being removed on a stretcher.

April Fools! North Carolina Won't Establish State Religion

Via WorldNetDaily-

(ABC News) It turns out North Carolina won’t be establishing its own religion after all. A resolution proposed this week by GOP state lawmakers that said the state has the right to declare an official religion will never come to a vote.

The legislation, House Joint Resolution 494, filed Monday by two GOP legislators and co-signed by 12 others, says the Supreme Court cannot block a state “from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.” But on Thursday, House Speaker Thom Tillis’ said the resolution was dead, according to WRAL.

The bill was initially filed in response to a lawsuit filed last month by the American Civil Liberties Union against the Rowan County Board of Commissioners, which, the ACLU said, opened 97 percent of its meetings in 2007 with explicitly Christian prayers. Filing the lawsuit on behalf of three residents, the ACLU wrote in a press release, “the commissioners, who deliver the prayers themselves, routinely call on Jesus Christ and refer to other sectarian beliefs during invocations.”

North Carolina Could Pass Bill That Would Establish State Religion.

(wnd) - Lawmakers are fighting back against the American Civil Liberties Union with a bold piece of legislation that would allow North Carolina to establish a state religion.

It is a bold move because House Bill 494 asserts the First Amendment, which prohibits the federal government from establishing an official religion, does not prevent states, counties, towns or schools from doing so. The bill also contends that a move to establish a state religion cannot be blocked by Congress or the courts.

The Defense of Religion Act was introduced to the North Carolina legislature by Republican Rowan County Reps. Harry Warren and Carl Ford and is sponsored by seven other Republicans. The bill does not specify which religion would become the state religion.

The bill is seen as a response to a federal lawsuit filed by the ACLU last month to stop the Rowan County Commission from opening meetings with Christian prayers.

North Carolina’s state Senate has offered a Christian invocation during most sessions since 2011.

Section 1 of the bill says “the Constitution of the United States of America does not prohibit states or their subsidiaries from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.”

Section 2 reads: “The North Carolina General Assembly does not recognize federal court rulings which prohibit and otherwise regulate the state of North Carolina, its public schools, or any political subdivisions of the state from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.”

Many critics are focusing on the bill’s interpretation of the First Amendment, contending the measure is a violation of the Establishment Clause, which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

But the bill’s backers say that clause does not apply to states. The legislators appear to be pinning their hopes on the Tenth Amendment, which reads, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Uganda Suspends Witch Hunt For Warlord Kony After Central African Coup.

(Reuters) - Uganda has suspended the hunt for fugitive warlord Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army fighters, blaming hostility towards foreign troops by Central African Republic rebels who seized power last month.

Kony is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes. He and his commanders are accused of abducting thousands of children to use as fighters in a rebel army that earned a reputation for chopping off limbs as a form of discipline.

Uganda provides more than 3,000 troops of a 5,000-strong African Union force hunting Kony and his fighters, who are thought to be hiding in jungles straddling the borders of Central African Republic, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo.

A separate coalition of rebels in Central African Republic, known as Seleka, toppled President Francois Bozize last month. They swept into the capital Bangui in a lightning offensive which triggered days of looting and drew international condemnation.

U.N. Overwhelmingly Approves Global Arms Trade Treaty.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The 193-nation U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved the first treaty on the global arms trade, which seeks to regulate the $70 billion business inconventional arms and keep weapons out of the hands of human rights abusers.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), a powerful U.S. pro-gun lobbying group that has opposed the treaty from the start, said it was a sad day for the United States, which joined the vast majority ofU.N. member states by voting for the pact.

Iran, Syria and North Korea cast the sole votes against the treaty. The same three states last week prevented a treaty-drafting conference at U.N. headquarters from reaching the required consensus to adopt the pact.

The official U.N. tally showed 154 votes in favor, three against 23 abstentions, though diplomats and U.N. officials said the actual vote was 155-3-22. They said Angola was recorded as having abstained, though it had attempted to vote yes.
